With just a couple weeks left until Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS), Walter Rhoddy of Rhoddy Design, a full service creative agency, shares with us the traits of a creative exhibition space and some up and coming design trends to make your booth  a contender for the Innovation Booth Awards.

1. An effective booth shouldn’t just be attractive, but focused. “Designers put too much time into style rather than promoting the actual product,” says Rhoddy.” “A booth should highlight the product/service that is being promoted.” Consider using graphic techniques, audio visual displays and demonstrations to successfully promote your product
2. Creativity should lead design, regardless of budget.

Although exhibitors may think they have to spend a good chunk of change to get ingenious results, Rhoddy states otherwise. “When used well, design can effectively solve problems and provide solutions. It allows you to open your mind to what materials and props can be used that are inexpensive but have a high impact. That’s what good design can do.”

1. Expect to see a shift in exhibition design. “The use of a European layout in a booth is becoming more common as it makes a space more open and inviting. Also, the use of technology is increasing as video displays improve,” says Rhoddy.

Submissions for the KBIS Innovative Booth Awards will be accepted until January 9, 2015. There is no cost to enter. The spaces will be judged during the show on January 20, 2015, and winners will be announced on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at 11:00AM on Center Stage in the NKBA Booth. All winners will receive post-show promotional benefits on staging-kbisee.temp513.kinsta.cloud, the KBIS Digital Pressroom and across KBIS social media channels.
