American Made, Metric Launch Scheduled for KBIS
As final touches on more than 3,750 exhibitor displays are hammered out for the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS), Atglen’s Christiana Cabinetry is set to introduce a new line of metric, frameless contemporary cabinetry to the trade in Las Vegas. International Metric will debut for the anticipated crowd of over 110,000 industry professionals and media during the annual show set for January 19 – 21 at The Las Vegas Convention Center.
International Metric from Christiana Cabinetry will be on display in the Scilm America exhibit booth (S7027) located in the South Hall. Euro furniture components from Scilm – toe kicks, leg levelers, profiles and structural items in their line of metal accessories– require the context of an authentic contemporary cabinetry line to showcase properly. For the second consecutive year, Christiana Cabinetry will collaborate with Scilm America, providing the full display of American-made, custom metric cabinetry for the show.
International Metric is Ready for Rollout at KBIS
According to Gerald Metzler, President and founder of Christiana Cabinetry, “In 2015, we quietly displayed International Metric at KBIS with Scilm. This year, we’re ready to speak to more of our dealers and prospects about the latest product line from Christiana Cabinetry.”
Metzler is making one-on-one appointments during KBIS to show the American-made line, developed in response to increasing demand for European-style cabinetry. International Metric uses a wide range of materials sourced from both continents. Applying forty years of cabinetry experience to perfecting the correct proportions, style and sizes of metric designs, while meeting the consistently growing demand for conventional imperial orders, has been the working undercurrent at the Atglen-based Pennsylvania factory.
Measured in Metric. Made in America.
International Metric is the result of work by Metzler and partner Randy Brotzman and the team at Christiana over a 30-year period. When the company first rolled out a frameless line in 1985, they began a quest to challenge the collection with metric measurements for clean, contemporary styling.
To achieve this goal, Metzler updated his passport and visited his contacts in Italy, Switzerland and Germany many times over the course of the next few decades.
Construction knowledge gained during trips to Europe was applied in the Atglen factory with collaboration and experience from prominent US design professionals who commonly use European contemporary lines for their customer installations. Input from these sources helped the Christiana team create the line’s custom offerings, horizontal proportions, heights and thicknesses.
Design Collaboration for Authentic European Style
Michigan’s John DeGiulio of DeGiulio Kitchen & Bath said, “There was nothing contemporary being made in America that could meet the quality standards I was looking for, with customer service
I could reach easily in Eastern Standard time. When I expressed this need to Jerry Metzler, together
we set out to make a Euro style product that could compete here on American soil.”
In true designer fashion, International Metric arrives at market offering a range of contemporary colors: matte, high gloss or any sheen in between. There are twelve thermally structured laminates, and 5 recon veneers. Custom grain matching or color formulas are available as exterior finish options.
Mitered doors made from American white oak are available in stains or paint colors. Door options in the line include flat panel doors in recon wood grain finishes or 5 matte or high gloss paint finishes. Aluminum framed doors with inset specialty glass choices are also available. Drawer boxes
can be specified in modern metal or with dovetailed wooden drawers- all hinges and glides with soft closing action.
